Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year

About the position

We are currently recruiting for a Financial Controller that will be based in Sydney Olympic Park. The successful candidate will have experience in the construction industry and experience as a company accountant in medium sized entity.  The role will report directly to the CFO and lead a team of 2.


Successful candidates’ key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining the company’s financial records for the five independent entities connected with Active Metal.
  • Responsible for the statutory filing of all BAS, IAS, Superannuation, FBT provisional sum, PAYGI to ATO and support the accurate and timely creation of a preliminary budget.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as directed by the CFO. The reports include management reports, reconciliations, preparing progress claims and invoicing.
  • Support and mentor 2 direct reports, Accounts Assistant and the Contract Administrator
  • Reconcile ADP Payroll accurately and in a timely manner.


What we are looking for:

Successful candidates will have:

  • Tertiary accounting qualification
  • Proven experience as a company accountant in medium sized entity
  • Previous experience within the construction industry
  • Proficiency in using MYOB, Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience in budgeting and cashflows.
  • Knowledge of Workbench an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated with an ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines, and with other team members as required.
  • Exposure to managing teams is ideal.
