On 21 July 2020, the Australian Government announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the JobKeeper Payment scheme will be extended by a further six months until 28 March 2021, from the original end date of 27 September 2020.
Recently the Fair Work Commission made a decision that NEW annualised salary provisions will be applied to a range of Modern Awards, commencing 1st March 2020 onwards. This change means, if your employee (s) is covered by an applicable award, your obligations for paying employee salaries are also going to change.
On Friday 29th May Therese Ravell, Director of Impact HR, the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand (IML ANZ) and Victoria University came together for a joint event attended by approximately 50 students ‘Set Yourself Up for Career Success’. We were impressed with how many participants have adapted to this ‘new’ virtual world and that the sense of community is so strong. Nice to see that although we may be isolated, there are ways of staying connected. Students praised the virtual event saying, “I just wanted to say thank you for the great chat from earlier. I actually messaged my old careers mentor after the chat, asking to pick his brain on job hunting in the upcoming months, owing to the advice given in the online event.”
