Students Set Themselves Up for Career Success

On Friday 29 May Therese Ravell Director of Impact HR, the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand (IML ANZ) and Victoria University came together for a joint virtual event attended by approximately 50 students ‘Set Yourself Up for Career Success’. We were impressed with how many participants have adapted to this ‘new’ virtual world and that the sense of community is so strong. The event aimed to arm students with the skills they’ll need to stand out and get ahead in the unpredictable and ever-competitive job market. Therese Ravell, Assoc. Prof. David Goodwin, Head of Industry Engagement at Victoria University and Ashleigh Rennison, Partnership Manager at IML ANZ, shared their expert knowledge and insights, provided practical advice to students, and answered their burning questions on employability.

Students praised the virtual event saying, “I just wanted to say thank you for the great chat from earlier. I actually messaged my old careers mentor after the chat, asking to pick his brain on job hunting in the upcoming months, owing to the advice given in the online event.”

“The opportunity to be able to provide customised solutions to students made it a very engaging and rewarding experience. Our presentations attracted attention and provided answers to the many life-changing questions students had been seeking for a while. I look forward to attending these events in future. Thank you to all the students who participated and the IML team,” said Therese.
