SpeedGas Improves HR Process and Enhances Employee Experience

SpeedGas has been operating for over 25 years with the head office located in Brookvale, Sydney. Originally selling helium gas to shops and promotional companies, large retail outlets and corporate customers the business has over the years expanded and diversified into associated equipment and consumables to the market. Naturally as the business grew, and the number of different positions increased, the hiring and onboarding process became cumbersome for the business. The number of candidates to manage for each new hire grew and the right steps to take as employees left the business was another cause for concern. As the business isn’t big enough to have a HR expert as part of the team, there was also nervousness that some things that had been done historically were either no longer best practice or could put the business at risk.

Impact HR was engaged to conduct an audit of all the salaries and confirm the award and grades, advise on legislative changes, create position descriptions and employment contracts. Impact HR also implemented a recruitment system including a new on-boarding process for every team member. In addition, our HR expert conducted training for the management team, refreshed and created policies and procedures and reworked all HR documentation for the business.

Managers now hire new employees more quickly, and the changes enhanced the employee experience and increased productivity. With the notable reduction in how long the recruitment to hiring process takes, the business can respond more quickly to changing needs while the quality of the candidates still improved.
