You’ve got a HR system. It is supposed to make your life easy. Instead, it drives you to crazy! It won’t let you move forward unless you do steps that are not relevant to your business. ARGHHH!
But it doesn’t have to be like that.
HR Information System (HRIS) can change your life by streamlining certain processes, they all have pros and cons. That’s why the Impact HR team work with a wide variety of systems and choose to be system agnostic. We have experience with Employment Hero, Happy HR, FoundU, Subscribe HR, Elmo, Hi Bob and more.
With Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements, all businesses need some level of technology to meet their ATO obligations. If you employee less than 10 people, these systems are lifesavers.
We put your business needs first and work closely with you to understand how the system will help you achieve your priorities.
5 steps to the best HRIS match
1.) Think of the Future
While we are often focused on solving current business bottlenecks, it is important to think strategically. Implementing a system can take time and be expensive.
Making decisions now that will accommodate the future needs of the business is essential.
2.) Know your Stakeholder Needs
Stakeholders have very different needs depending on their roles. The finance department may be focused on Award Rule Interpretation, a Safety Officer will require Incident, Accident and Hazard Reporting.
If the business has strong compliance obligations someone will be responsible for capturing all the right information ensuring automatically reminders occur so compliance is more easily managed. Interview them and add their needs to your checklist.
3.) Think of the Users
Users come in different forms. HR Professionals will administer the system. Managers will use it to plan work and document performance of their teams. Employees will use it for managing their personal needs at work.
Don’t focus on the needs of one group over the needs of another. If your users can’t easily navigate the selected platform, the basic information will never be correct so all other decisions will be poorly informed.
4.) Be Methodical
Once you’ve got a thorough understanding of the business needs, create an evaluation process and review a number of potentially suitable systems. Impact HR’s checklist allows you to confirm that the features you need are included and also questions to ask about how they work.
Some HRIS providers offer trial periods or a FREE set up period to allow you to get to know if the system will really suit for your business.
5.) Get Help
If you set up the system poorly, it will never be able to perform to the standard that it should. Unfortunately, the Impact HR team has frequently seen that businesses have tried to save some money by doing it themselves and as a result has set up systems which don’t deliver to the expectations or needs of the company.
When we’ve been able to modify or adjust settings, it has resulted in significant improvements.
We’d love to show you how the right HRIS can streamline your business and provide you with the insights you need to take your business to the next level.
